Florida Barter CEO Elected to International Role

Founder and CEO of Orlando barter business elected to lead international association’s key committee.

ORLANDO, Fla. (Apr. 7, 2009) – International Reciprocal Trade Association (IRTA) announced today that Scott Whitmer, the founder and CEO of Florida Barter, the largest independent modern organized barter organization on the entire east coast, has been elected to the position of chairman of the IRTA’s prestigious Uniform Currency Clearinghouse (UCC). The UCC establishes and regulates universal standards for international barter and trade transactions.
“Scott has been an active member of IRTA for more than twenty years, contributing his extensive expertise to ensure our operational and organizational success,” said Ron Whitley, IRTA’s executive director. “He has been instrumental in developing the standards that govern the currency exchange for trade and barter organizations worldwide. His election to chair this extremely important committee is a natural progression.”
Whitmer attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He founded Florida Barter nearly twenty-eight years ago. Scott’s participation in IRTA has spanned twenty-six years, during which he served as the organization’s president and a member of its Board of Directors. During his tenure as president, Whitmer assisted in the design and implementation the UCC program.
“I am honored to have been selected by my colleagues and peers to chair this important committee,” said Whitmer. “My years of involvement IRTA have provided a solid foundation upon which I have able to build a successful barter business.”

Scott Whitmer is married to his wife Sana and has four children. The family enjoys sports, boating and spending quality time together.
